Bringing Power to the People

Clean Energy

Pyro Yield designs, builds and operates Fast Pyrolysis Reactors. The purpose of a Fast Pyrolysis Reactor (FPR) is to produce clean energy, from sustainably sourced biomass in the form of wood, coconut shell, bamboo, olive stones and other readily available waste products like these.

Pyro Yield has developed an innovative and highly efficient method of turning biomass into clean energy. Pyro Yield not only produces clean energy, but it does it without the need for fossil fuels. Once up to temperature the only fuel needed to sustain the reaction is biomass. The energy in the biomass powers the reactor constantly.

Biochar and Activated Carbon

Pyro Yield produces clean energy from the processing of biomass, but it also results in highly useful and marketable bi-products, namely activated carbon and biochar. These products can be sold on world markets or used locally.

Activated Carbon is a highly effective filter for water treatment, air treatment and so on. Activated carbon is the best, natural molecular filter known to man; it is in fact almost pure carbon with an incredible internal surface area. If all the layers in one cubic centimetre were laid out flat they would cover an entire football field. It is used mainly in the water industry to filter out chemicals and heavy metals, in domestic filters to remove chlorine from drinking water.

In large scale power production where emissions from burning coal containing mercury and other heavy metals are effectively screened out and captured before they can be released into the atmosphere. Wound dressings, a first line of treatment in the reduction of the effects of overdose and poisoning. In electronics, batteries and super capacitor production and gas mask production.

Other uses are the capture of harmful vapour emissions from our vehicle fuel tanks plus hundreds of speciality uses in the chemical industry, in mining recovering gold from ore processing.

Biochar is in effect a conditioned charcoal that has application in improving nutrient levels in the soil beneficial to plants.
